Blue Beach
The artful string arrangement on this tune was done
by my friend, J.C. Carroll, in London, through an
internet collaboration. Thanks, JC
I walk these weathered sands alone
And think about the long ago
This beach alive in sunshine
And you
Lookin cool
On your towel blue
She shoots a smile across the breeze
Finds its mark with simple ease
A moment in the sunshine
Rings true
For me and you
But that was long ago
Rusted reflection flush with youth
Saved on the shelf, like bittersweet fruit
From a Mason jar
That's what you are
A notion that was once so fine
Twisted by the hands of time
Lights on a perch so narrow
Sings its song
And then is gone
I wandered my old neighborhood
Saw my house, and thought I should
Find comfort there
But it never came
Just fallin rain
Had to walk away
To see what I once had
I wrote myself a letter
An archive in the present tense
To tell me not to dwell within the past
Memories last
But they always bow
To the here and now
